Angelina
If you’re a tea lover like me, then chez Angelina located on the Rue de Rivoli facing the Tuileries Gardens is the place to go. Angelina’s is much more than a tea salon, it is an institution where the rich and famous rub elbows with tourists and locals alike.
It’s like stepping back into the 19th century. The decor of gilt and mirrors, the service, the ambiance all adds to the feeling of Vieux Paris. The selection of teas to choose from is quite vast, so go ahead and try something that you’ve never had before.
During the colder months chocolate lovers must definitely try their hot chocolate. They’ll give you a little pitcher of thick hot chocolate, a bowl of whipped cream, sugar, and a carafe of water. Just the aroma will make you swoon. After the first sip that is so rich and creamy, you’ll think you died and went to Chocolate Heaven!
Don’t leave so fast, however, Angelina’s is also known for their wonderful pastries! It’s a feast for the eyes and you won’t know what to choose from. Everything will make your mouth water, from the fruit tarts, to the cream filled puff pastries, to the éclairs.
If you can’t decide what to order, their famous Mont-Blanc is a must! Sitting there at your little table taking in your sumptuous surroundings, you’ll want to make Angelina’s your new home.
It is upscale, but it won’t break your pocketbook. 6.50 € for a cup of hot chocolate and pastries around 3 €. Yes you can find cheaper prices and places than that, but it’s nice to indulge a little from time to time.
