Dining on the Bateaux Mouches
Okay, after my last blog, I thought it would be nice to do something a little more romantic and what can be more romantic than having dinner on the Seine? There are a number of cruise boats offering day and evening tours, but I find the Bateaux-Mouches near the Pont de l’Alma to be the best.
You are greeted with an apéritif, which is served in the lounge to each guest before dinner. There is a pianist and a violinist which only adds to the whole ambiance of romance. Seeing the monuments of Paris light up as you sail down the river will make you fall in love all over again; not only with your significant other, but with Paris as well!
As you dine on refined classical French cuisine prepared by their chef, you’ll pass couples stolling hand in hand, or sitting on the banks of the Seine in an embrace, almost as if they have been placed there by some Hollywood director! You’ll look at one another and know that you’re in the most romantic city in the world!
There are two menus to choose from. The traditional menu is 95 € and a more elaborate one goes for 125 €. The wine and the service are also included. The tour departs every evening at 8:30 p.m. and lasts for 2h 15 minutes. A jacket and tie is compulsory. No jeans and sneakers!
If you want to go all out, there is an even more romantic evening which includes a limosine picking you up at home, or from your hotel, and bringing you to the cruise ship. Champagne and roses will await you there where you’ll dine at the Admiral’s table. 500 € per couple.
Lunch cruises are available every week-end and during the holidays. Adults are 50 € each, which includes one child for free. Additional children are 25 € each; under 4 is free. The cruise lasts 1h45 minutes. An accordionist plays traditional French tunes. Dress is more relaxed, but there still is a code on what is acceptable and what is not.
Sightseeing tours run daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. They leave every 30 minutes in the daytime and every 15 minutes in the evening. The cruise runs about 1h10 minutes. 8 € for adults, 4 € for children between 4 – 12 years-old, and Seniors. Children under 4 are free.

After 6 visit to our favorite city, my husband and I decided to take a lunch cruise down the Seine (our first) we took the Bateaux Parisien. We opted for the “1st Class” tickets/seats and we are so glad that we did – good value for the $. We had loads of fun, the food was better than expected, the wine good, the jazz singer was very nice – as was the dancing! Tres Romantique! I would definitely recommend.
It is romantic! Have you and your husband gone Dancing Under the Stars? I think after six visits, the two of you should perhaps consider a time-share apartment in Paris!
No we have not gone to ‘Dancing Under the Stars.’ The first I heard of it was in you article, and it sounds like a must-do. As for an apartment in Paris? My husband and I talk about it all of the time and we’re seriously considering it!

That sounds incredible.
My family is just returning from Europe (Italy), and its been giving me the itch to go back. Perhaps Paris.
Be careful VL….Italy is wonderful, but you just might fall in love with Paris!
