What Woman Want – Glamour…………. What Men Want – Speed………………… And The Cannes Film Festival Turns 60
Melissa over at Europe String has chosen a theme this month for our travel blogs entitled “What Women Want”. I think women love to get out of their daily routine from time to time. They love to dress up and look beautiful, and go somewhere glamorous and exciting. Well this got me to thinking about the Cannes Film Festival, which turns 60 this year!
I can just hear the groans of men around the world thinking, “Oh no! Paris isn’t enough?!” Well yes, Paris is wonderful, but wouldn’t it be nice to hop on a TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse) and head down to Cannes for a few days? No you’re not going to find a hotel room at this late stage of the game, but if you rent a car, you can drive up, or down, the coast and discover some fantastic little towns. It’ll be worth the trip just being on the French Riviera; the view is breathtaking!
Besides, what man doesn’t like speed?! (Guys, do I have your attention now?!) The TGV broke its own speed record last month by going a little over 513 km/h (320 mph)! I love riding these super-fast trains! You can go from one part of France to another in a matter of a few hours. The ride is smooth and you’re not even aware of how fast you’re going until another train passes by and it’s like “whoosh!” the train is gone in literally two seconds! It’s also great when you come along side of an autoroute and you realize that cars are speeding along at 130 km/h (80 to 90 mph), and you’re just whizzing past them like they’re standing still and you think, wow, I’m really on one of these supersonic trains!
Ladies, take out your evening gowns and heels! I think I just convinced your guys to hop on down to Cannes for the festivities!

“I’m just not convinced that women don’t like speed. What woman doesn’t like driving with the top down going 95mph? Also, have you seen some of these women who are following nascar these days? little scary… I think speed is genderless.”
Mike, after watch Danica Patrick and Milka Duno recently….I think you’re right! http://itsallmaya.com/car-racing-a-new-interest-for-women/
yes, speed is indeed genderless. it really just depends on the person. i agree with lyn/mike above.
CZ, I love speed, especially when I don’t have to do the driving and it’s all legal (like on a TGV)!!!
