Le Bourget – The 47th International Paris Air Show
I love the Paris air show and I can’t tell you how many I’ve attended. It just so happens that two of my exes are involved in these shows. One works for Dassault Aviation. The other is the preferred architect, that for more than a decade has built the pavilion which houses the exhibit, by the French Department of Defense at Le Bourget.
This air show is one of the largest in the world, with over two thousand exhibitors, more than 250 aircraft from 88 countries and more than 750,000 visitors expected during these seven days! If you love planes and aircraft, then this is the place to be from June 18th to the 24th. The show is open to trade and industry people from the 18th to the 21st, and is open to the general public Friday the 22nd to Sunday the 24th. Hours are from 9h30 to 18h. For more information about tickets, parking, etc., you can visit their website.
Believe me, all I know is everytime I’ve gone, there’s always something incredible to see!

The Paris Air Show is famous for showing off the best stuff!
I love the air show here in Chicago. Of course, you can hear the jets as they practice and display their talents far above the city. And now that I live closer to Lake Michigan, where the show “officially” takes place, my home actually rattles sometimes as they roar overhead! It’s quite thrilling really. I’m sure the Paris show gives the Chicago version a run for its money though.
They do put on quite a show and as you say Mary Jo, it’s all the best that each country has to offer. I still remember years ago, when the Stealth first made its appearance! Or aircraft that stops in mid-air, hovers without making a sound, then makes a 180 degree turn around and takes off! Really something to see!
Matt, as I mentioned to Mary Jo, they really do put on quite a show; the best of the best! I guess when the show only lasts for a few days to a week, you don’t mind your house rattling! More than that, and I think you would start getting a little jittery!
Then again, you might not notice it at all. That happened to me when I moved into my apartment right off the Place Saint-Sulpice, which is the 2nd largest church after Notre-Dame. I was going crazy every time they rang the church bells, years later I didn’t even hear them when they rang!
