Salma Hayek – Not Moving to Paris
I really have to hand it to Salma Hayek, she could very easily have decided to spend her time shopping in all the luxury stores in Paris, or just lounging around eating bonbons and sipping expensive champagne! Afterall, the father of her baby (due any day now) and also her fiancé, is none other than French business mogul François-Henri Pinault! Pinault heads a conglomerate of successful businesses including the famous Printemps department store, La Redoute (think Sears catalog), the FNAC, several French newspapers, Christie’s, plus Gucci and Yves Saint-Laurent….shall I go on?!
Yes? Well what about Boucheron jewelry, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, winery Chateau Latour, Samsonite, Converse sneakers, Vail Ski Resort, Alexander McQueen…okay I’ll stop, but you get the idea!
The talented and beautiful actress/director/producer and the son of billionaire/businessman/art collector have more in common than meets the eye. What you ask? Well, she did play Frieda Kahlo afterall, and his father owns a vast collection of masterpieces, Picassos, Miros, etc,…..see the connection?! Art – artist. No?! Oh well, I tried!
Seriously though, Salma in a little over a decade has gone from a Mexican soap star to a successful Hollywood actress/director/television producer and now CEO of her own studio/production/distribution company, Ventanazul, with her partner Jose Tamez and in collaboration with MGM Studios. The goal to this endeavor is enhancing the careers of Latinos in English language films. Her success with the popular TV show Ugly Betty has opened doors for her. Her upcoming marriage to the French tycoon, Pinault, now better known outside of France as Salma Hayek’s fiancé, (yes!) will make it that much easier to open the rest of those doors!
Although Salma plans on staying and working in California, I’m sure she’ll be spending a lot of her off time in Paris. She’s not only beautiful and talented, she’s also intelligent and business savvy! See, her and Pinault do have more in common than one would have first thought!
