Three More ‘Travelers’ Join Our Ranks!

Three More ‘Travelers’ Join Our Ranks!

Our Travel & Culture Channel here at b5 media is rapidly growing as we add three more ‘Travelers’ to our ranks. Just a few weeks ago we welcomed The Atlanta Traveler and The Sydney Traveler and I’m pleased to announce that The Las Vegas Adventurer, The London Traveler, and The Switzerland Traveler are now a part of our group!
I, for one, am thrilled because I’ve been to all three places a number of times, so I’m really looking forward to catching up with everything that’s going on.  If any of these destinations are on your list of places to see in the …read more

The Rue Mouffetard

The Rue Mouffetard

The Rue Mouffetard, which Parisians call “La Mouffe” has been written about and immortalized in poems and songs. It is afterall one of the oldest streets in Paris, with homes dating back to the Middle Ages, but for me it’s a great little street to hang out in for a good part of a day or evening.
Not only does it have a terrific street market, there are plenty of little shops to browse around in. Some are filled with items so kitsch that you just have to buy something for the fun of it, or for that person who has …read more

Are Parisian Cafés Becoming American Coffee Shops?!

Are Parisian Cafés Becoming American Coffee Shops?!

When people think of Paris, sidewalk cafés is one of the first thoughts that come to mind. And why not?! Paris has the most famous cafés in the world! Hmm, now that I’m on the subject, I wonder why no one has thought about giving guided tours to many of the most famous cafés in Paris?!  (Or are there guided tours and I’m just not aware of them?!)
The more I think about it, the more I think it’s a great idea! They could do a Snobbish Café Tour which would include Le Fouquet’s, Café de la Paix, Le Lutétia, and Le Café Marly to name a few. …read more

Place de Furstenberg

Place de Furstenberg

The first time I saw this lovely little square hidden near l’Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés, it was a warm summer evening and a young French troubadour was playing his guitar and singing to an audience of people watching him from their apartment windows. I stopped to listen…..
What can I say…..I, too, was young. Our eyes met and he serenaded me with his melodic voice. He was a musician and an artist. I was a musician and thanks to him I became an artist as well.
A special evening, a special encounter, that when I reflect upon my past, it is one of those special …read more

A Loss for Words by the Passing of Marcel Marceau

A Loss for Words by the Passing of Marcel Marceau

Another star has dimmed by the passing of the most famous mime in the world and along with him, his alter-ego “Bip”. If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to attend one of his shows, then you know what an incredible artist he was.
Marcel Marceau entertained audiences for sixty years! Some of his most famous skits in his long and impressive repertoire were The Cage, Walking Against the Wind, The Kite, and Pierrot de Montmartre. His masterpieces included Youth, Maturity, Old Age and Death, The Creation of the World, and Bip plays David and Goliath.
The first time I saw …read more

Fashion Week in Paris

Fashion Week in Paris

The Prêt-à-Porter (Ready To Wear) Spring/Summer 2008 collection will soon be hitting the runways here in Paris between September 29 to October 7. I’ve had several friends of mine who have taken to the catwalk through the years, showing off the latest designs and fashions and it’s always been an interesting time filled with excitement! For me, that is! (I especially love the ones at the Carrousel du Louvre.) For them, however, it’s a crazy hectic time that is, more often than not, nervewracking!
Fashion Week has just wrapped up in London and New York this past week and is continuing …read more

Vin Chaud (Hot Wine)

Vin Chaud (Hot Wine)

I love Paris in the Fall, actually the song April in Paris would have been Autumn in Paris if I had written the lyrics. Most years there’s a period during late September – early October when the leaves are turning and the weather is warm and mild like an Indian summer and the world just seems right as you stroll through the gardens of this fabulous city.
I know my readers come from all over and as the weather begins to turn cooler in some parts of the world; it’s turning warmer in others areas, but I thought it would be …read more

Lovely Sarah Jessica Parker – Which is Witch!

Lovely Sarah Jessica Parker – Which is Witch!

Okay, so I was starting a post all about Fashion Week coming up at the end of the month here in Paris, (which I’ll talk more about in a day or so) when it got me thinking about Sarah Jessica Parker. Why? Because she happens to be a favorite of mine, and has the kind of body that no matter what you put on her, she always looks fabulous! (I hate her! ….Okay, okay! I’m kidding! Don’t believe everything you read!)
If you’ve seen Sarah Jessica Parker’s commercial for her new fragrance “Covet” you know what I’m talking about. How could Jean-Paul …read more

You Want Rants?! Okay, I’ll Give You Rants!

You Want Rants?! Okay, I’ll Give You Rants!

Another theme day has creeped up upon us and this time, if you didn’t read the title of this post, the theme is “Rants”!
First of all let me say, I have more than one rant going on right now and I’ll tell you how I got there! About a month ago I wrote a post called Pet Peeve and it was perfect for this Theme Day, but could I use it?! No! “Why not?” you ask. Don’t ask me, but according to those making the rules here at b5 media, they said it had to be “a more recent post.” …read more
