Actually Geoff there are a number of "unofficial races" aound the world to see how quickly owners can get the BN to their establishments for consumption!

As you and I know, it's not for the wine so much as wanting to be first I guess.

In the Uk I remember it being fashionable for about a week. There's even a car rally organised to see who can get the stuff back to southern England as quickly as possible.

But you're right - one glass and then on to the good stuff!

Most people start drinking it as soon as it comes in! Some connoisseurs like to let it settle for a few weeks before they drink it, but after a few months, it's all downhill! As you know, most reds are better at room temperature, but the Beaujolais Nouveau is best served chilled like a rosé.

My wife and I know a decent bit about wine (she knows more) but we didn't realize that Beaujolais Nouveau was best consumed so early.

The wine shop we always go to carries it and I wondered why he had the 2006 out so early! We've had previous years of Beaujolais Nouveau but not the 06' because I felt it wasn't aged enough :). Good to know, thanks! We'll try out the 07' as soon as it hits our wine shop this time!!
