La Vie Rêvée de Fatna – Rachida Khalil

Rachida Khalil in “La Vie Rêvée de Fatna”If you’ve missed the opportunity to see this entertaining one woman show starring Rachida Khalil at the Olympia, I’m sure it will return to the stage once again in the near future! Ever since its first appearance a few years ago, La Vie Rêvée de Fatna, with Rachida Khalil has been playing to rave reviews!

The story line written in collaboration with Guy Bedos is about three Arab women whose paths cross by fate. Karima is a young woman who dreams of becoming an actrice, Sophie her racist neighbor, and Fatna, the aunt who has spent her life in a tiny village.

Rachida KhalilLa Vie Rêvée de Fatna looks at the lives of these three young Arab women and touches upon serious situations that relate very closely to the daily hardships that Arab women face living within their culture, but also in France. Rachida Khalil does this with a humoristic twist, as well as with moments that are very poignant and touching.

Hélène Darche directs this show with much skill, not only as a director, but also as an actress who has a number of one woman shows to her credit as well.  It’s a perspective that she’s able to use, that many directors cannot.
