A World Far, Far Away!
Today I was doing some research regarding Paris and came across some amazing photos of the city taken during the “Exposition Universelle de 1900″. I wasn’t really thinking that there was more to this world-wide gathering besides what still exists, namely Le Grand Palais and Le Petit Palais. But, oh my gosh, to have simply torn down some of these buildings seems a crime. Just think if they were still there, how long we would have to stay in Paris to see it all. I wish!

The Pavilion of Serbia. How beautiful is this? It housed an exhibit of wines (I’d be here), pork products(why?) and silk with actual silk worm cocoons.

This magnificent bit of architecture is the Pavilion of Italy. It is reminiscent of Venetian Gothic. If you have ever been to Venice, you should be reminded of the Basilica of San Marco which is what it is patterned after.

The Conservatory on the left bank of the Seine displaying native French plants alongside more exotic fauna.

This is Le Trottoir Roulant or the moving sidewalk, my personal favorite. I think I would have been so intrigued by it I would have wanted to play on it all day-yes, even as an adult–probably because I spent too much time at the wine exhibit in Serbia!
