Live from Paris…..it’s Monday!

I have been meaning to share this and kept forgetting.  This is what greets me each morning as my computer kicks into gear and I get my day going.  It’s a web cam that is perched on top of Trocodero pointing sort of  west (I did not come into this world armed with a great sense of direction).  That dome that you see in the background is L’Eglise de St-Louis-des-Invalides, a beautiful church that is a part of a complex of museums devoted to the military history of France.  It is home to the tomb of Napoleon, which if you visit and get the audio guide, is really a fascinating attraction.

Here is a webcam that takes you to Place de la Concorde.  I am thinking that the camera sits on top of Hotel de Crillon but am not sure.  Anyway, this is, if I am forced to make a choice, my favorite spot in Paris.  If you stand in exactly the right place and twirl around, you can see just about every major monument in the city.  On a sunny day it can’t be beat.  From this vantage point, the Champs Elysée and Arc de Triomphe would be off to your right,  as would the Eiffel Tower.  That Greek temple looking building is Assemblée Nationale, the ferris wheel is the ferris wheel and off the screen to your left is the Jardin des Tuilleries and the Louvre.  In the center of this huge, beautiful traffic circle is the Obélisque de Luxor, a gift from Egypt given to Louis Phillipe.  So if it is a dreary Monday in your part of the world like it is in mine, hopefully this quick visit to Paris will help to brighten up your day!
