La Nuit du Feu 2008

If you are a regular reader of The Paris Traveler, then you know that there is a special place in my heart for the gendarmes (police officers) that one finds keeping the streets of Paris safe for citizens and tourists alike. I say a special place, because I do believe, aside from being model citizens themselves-we hope-their membership includes some of the handsomest Frenchmen I have laid eyes on!! My daughters would be in complete agreement with me on this one.
Having said that, I must add that although my contact with pompiers in Paris (firefighters) was less frequent, they are right up there also in the, how shall we say, eye candy factor. Harder to get a handle on with all the gear they must wear as part of their work uniform that keeps them from harms way. This Friday, however, all their flameproof gear is set aside for a spectacular evening of pompier showmanship!
La Nuit de Feu is an evening of entertainment that showcases the Brigade de Sapeurs-Pompiers de Paris in all its forms. Their high flying gymnastic team, consisting of 55 members, will fascinate with their dynamic and creative balancing routines, while their choral group provides musical entertainment. And, to make sure that the scorecard is evened out in the eye candy department, Doriss Girls from the Moulin Rouge will be performing their traditional French can-can, plumes and all. Oh, gosh, it is all so French. I love it!!
So, if you are here in Paris, you need to get to the the Palais des Congrès this Friday, June 27th. 8:00pm sharp. Time is of the essence with firefighters.
