Barbra Streisand at Bercy

Awhile back, I wrote that Barbra Streisand would be appearing at Bercy in June. Well, the date is fast approaching (June 26) and rather than ticket prices going up, or being sold out; they have actually come down! It seems that Europeans will not dish out the dough for BS!

Babs was asking, (if my memory serves right), over 1500 € for the best seats in the house and 500 € for the worst, but don’t quote me, I am known to forget from one minute to the next what I just said! Back to Streisand, afterall this is her first European tour and the first time that she will perform in France in her long career of over forty years! Doesn’t matter, it seems that many Europeans were complaining about the price of her tickets.

According to the Streisand camp, the reason why her first concert, in Rome, was cancelled had nothing to do with ticket prices, but rather, problems with production instead! Who buys that doesn’t matter, all said and done, Europeans will not pay the price to hear Babs sing as Americans will do. She grossed $92.5 million on her North American tour!

I guess it’s just a matter of how much you’re willing to spend, and on what. Europeans are willing to pay as much as 600 € for the World Cup Finals, to watch a bunch of guys kicking a ball around. So they’ll also dish out almost 600 € to hear this world famous singer do her thing. Americans, on the other hand, will fork over $6500 for Superbowl tickets to sit on the 50 yardline and watch a bunch of guys banging into one another! So, why wouldn’t they pay $1500 to hear this superstar sing!

Personally, if I were to choose, I would spend the money for Barbra’s concert than any sport event, but I think they’re all crazy! (Hey! This is my blog!) Anyway, you can still get tickets for the concert at Bercy. The cheapest seats are going at 155 €, but be sure to bring your binoculars along with you if you want to see her!
