Berthillon

Now that summer is just about here and the weather is hot! Okay, it may not be hot where you are, but it’s hot where I happen to be traveling at the moment, so people tend to look for ways of cooling off. (”I’ll take a margarita, señor!” Opps!  But then again, that’s me!)

Most people, however, love ice-cream, but I’m not like most people, ….so I’m told! There are two things that I’m not crazy about and people always give a look like, “what planet did she come from?” When I tell you, you’ll understand. One is chocolate and the other is ice-cream.  (I like whipped cream, does that count?!)

When or if I do eat chocolate, it’ll be white chocolate (I know, white chocolate isn’t really chocolate!) and believe me it’s not often. The same goes for ice-cream; it’s vanilla or nothing. Even as a kid when everyone had a piece of birthday cake and ice-cream, I always said, “hold the ice-cream!”

So I’m not really the expert to tell you if Berthillon on the Ile Saint Louis is indeed the best ice-cream in the world as it is known to be. If the crowds of people standing around or waiting in line are any indication, then I guess they probably are! I’ll admit, I’ve only eaten it twice in 36 years, but everytime I’ve passed by, there’s always hordes of people!

Berthillon has been around since 1954.
