Free Parking
If you’ve ever been to Paris, then you already know that traffic is a madhouse most of the time here, unless of course you come in August. August just happens to be the quietest month of the year due to the fact that many companies and businesses close down at this time and therefore the employees take their yearly one month paid summer vacation.
Times have changed and things aren’t so drastic as in the past when Paris would become a virtual ghost town except for the millions of tourists in the city. In any case, if you’ve been thinking of driving to the capital, then now’s the perfect time to do it!
There are 145,000 paid parking spaces in the City of Lights, but during this month 123,000 of them are free, and best of all, you’ll actually be able to find one! Any car owner here will tell you what a nightmare it is to find a parking space.
The remaining 22,000 spaces throughout the city, however, will still be places that you will have to pay to park. Most of the free parking will say that they’re “free Saturday, Sunday, holidays and the month of August”, but if you have any doubts, just push the yellow button where you pay and “stationnement gratuit” (free parking) will appear.
It seems more and more Parisians are opting to stay in Paris in August because of the peaceful, quiet atmosphere the city takes on during this month. So why not come now? There’s plenty of room!
