Lavinia

This is Lavinia, a huge store devoted to wine, champagne and spirits on boulevard de la Madeleine in the 1st. Three floors of bliss. Do you think this is what heaven or a slice of it should be if you are a wine lover?
What fun it is to go through the displays and see what the specials of the week are. They obviously promote French wines and for good reason, but had all other wine producing countries represented as well. Do you see to the left of the top photo what looks to be bottles lined up next to each other? That is a wine tasting bar and for one euro–$1.55 today (yikes!) you can taste a variety of different reds and whites. I could have parked my rear end there for the remainder of the day but was by myself and thought that would be bad form, drinking solo at a wine dispenser till the wee hours. Where’s a girl’s drinking buddies when she needs them? Next time, you guys better be there. And those of you I don’t know yet but who enjoy hanging out at wine dispensers, I wouldn’t want you to miss out. You’re invited too!
Here is a video that takes you on a tour of the shop. It’s in French but know that the woman wants a bottle of wine from Australia, the gentlemen are explaining the wine tasting bar, the types of wine they represent….you get the idea.
