Paris en Couleurs
L’Hôtel de Ville de Paris, one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, would be considered the equivalent of a “town hall” in North America. I don’t know about you, but the one I go to in my town is circa 1960’s cinder-block: metal folding chairs, fading linoleum, a few vending machines. Nothing like this Cinderella’s castle. This photo is magic but in real life it will take your breath away.

It is home to many things including wonderful exhibitions, specifically dealing with photography. These are free to the public (read lengthy wait lines) but oh, so worth it once inside. Here’s a quick look at what’s currently showing.
Expo « Paris en couleurs » à l?Hôtel de VilleUploaded by mairiedeparis
”Paris en Couleurs” has assembled 300 pieces, ranging from early color plates to contemporary photos that take you on a historical journey of the city through the lens’ of many photographic revolutionaries–some famous, some recently re-discovered– all pushing the envelope, looking for new ways to see the world. Color is the operative word here and the Paris that so many previously saw in grainy black and white photos or moving pictures suddenly came alive through their artistry.
With gray winter days wrecking havoc with our world , a little “couleur” is most welcome!
