Special Moments

What I love about Paris is that it’s made up of many special moments. Moments where you feel like part of a tableau vivant, or just caught up in a wonderful, fully aware, moment where you realize that you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world, but right where you are.
It could be a place where the beauty overwhelms you, or a scene unfolding before your eyes and you feel almost like an intruder; perhaps watching a couple in love. Or it might be a passing glance with a stranger that makes your heart skip a beat.
No, Paris doesn’t always have to be running from one place to another, visiting one thing after another, shopping, buying, etc,…. Sometimes it’s nice to just be in the moment.

One of my moments came as i was entering the CDG airport when I saw a gentleman on his way out carrying the same (& may I add uncommon) lafuma backpack like the one I was also carrying. He looked at me & I looked at him & we smiled….approving each other’s taste, I guess.
Funny I hadn’t see anyone carrying over here but have to meet someone in Paris who did & that was almost 9 years ago! :-)

Special moments last a lifetime, so it doesn’t matter how long ago it happened. Yours is a good example. Although it happened nine years ago, it still seems like it was only yesterday, right? (Thanks for sharing one of your special moments.)

I am in love, (like many others), with Paris and France! I love the language, the culture, the beauty of the city.
Special moments like these can take place anywhere, but I have a feeling they take place more frequently in Paris!

Louise, I think you’re right. For some reason, Paris is a dream for so many people, and when they finally arrive, the beauty of it all just overwhelms you. (And Frenchmen are notorious for those wonderful glances, which doesn’t stop there, but that’s another story!)
It’s also true that it can happen anywhere. When I was looking at how beautiful nature can be in the hills of Scotland, or when it was love at first sight with someone in Florence, or standing in awe in front of the Great Pyramid in Egypt, etc., for whatever reason it’s one of those special moments that endures with time.
