There’s lots of ways to get around Paris–traditionally walking is good, using the metro and walking is good or taking the bus and walking is good too.  Even a combination of the three–which I always try to avoid–is not as good, but works.

For the first time in the race’s 94 year history, this three week competition started off in London with 189 of the best cyclists in the world competing in one of sports most grueling contest! The 2007 Tour de France began amid tight security with close to 5000 police officers from both the London Metropolitan Police and the French gendarmerie. And I don’t mean the Tour de France! Bicycling in the streets of Paris has doubled in popularity since the new millennium thanks to bicycle paths, (370 km worth and counting), that have sprouted up throughout the city. Well you haven’t seen anything yet! Starting this summer there will be nearly 750 stations where you can rent a bike at one place and drop it off at another.
