The Paris Traveler

I recently sent one of my poems (not this one) to be included in the Jack Kerouac exhibit that will be taking place on the 23rd of September in Paris at the Cabaret Pirate in front of the BNF (Bibliothèque Nationale de France), which got me to thinking….  How could I have not seen that my poem, This Is Paris To Me, fits in perfectly with my blog!

Cobble stone streets; and chic cafés.
Strolling down the Champs Elysées.
Going into the Madeleine,
or riding the Bateaux Mouches on the Seine.

A few days ago I received an e-mail from Arnaud Contreras and Alain Dister about their homage to the American writer, Jack Kerouac, who coined the term, “Beat Generation”. I was asked if I wanted to contribute something (a poem, a drawing, a song, etc.) to participate in this exhibit entitled, Memory Babe, A Tribute to Jack Kerouac. This is a celebration of the 50th year of Kerouac’s best known work: “On the Road“. Looking for something to do near the water now that summer is here and best of all it’s free? Then join the festivites this week-end in either Paris or Val-de-Marne with the Water Festival. This year’s guest of honor is the Saint-Laurent River in Quebec, Canada. Festivites take place on June 30 and July 1st between Port de Bercy and the passerelle Simon de Beauvoir in Paris 12e and 13e as well as in the nearby town of Val-de-Marne.

Okay, so you can’t decide if you want to go to the beach or to Paris for your summer holidays, then think again! Paris has its own beach and this year it’s getting even bigger!
