Mon 1er Festival Cinéma Pour Enfants

Mon 1er Festival Cinéma Pour Enfants

Mon 1er Festival Cinéma Pour Enfants is a film festival for children between the ages of 3-15 years of age which takes place from the 24th to the 30th of October. This is the third year that a number of theaters in Paris will be showing films with kids in mind. From animated films to super-heros, and from sneak preview films to classics, there is truly something for everyone!
There’s even an Audrey Hepburn tribute that I’m excited about! (I love Audrey Hepburn! Not only as an actress, but also for the  humanitarian she was! I even have a photograph of her, my …read more

Francis Lai – Move Over!

Francis Lai – Move Over!

I spent an interesting afternoon with Martin Boumendil watching him work his keyboards and other instruments in an orchestration of sound, as images on a screen coordinated and blended the visual with the audio. It was quite fascinating to say the least! Martin is a young musician and composer with a nice melodic voice who also has that gift of imagination and creativity and doesn’t put himself into any one genre of music. Instead the versatility of his compositions is what I found to be most interesting.
Is it any wonder that Martin would be drawn to the film industry as …read more

Le Bar à Vins du Cinéma des Cinéastes

Le Bar à Vins du Cinéma des Cinéastes

If you can keep a secret, I’ll tell you about a great place to have a drink, listen to music (sometimes), have dinner, see a film, or just chat with other movie lovers, filmmakers, and sometimes celebrities. All this and at a price you can afford!
Le Bar à Vins du Cinéma des Cinéastes is located just off the Place de Clichy; not really a hot spot on the tourists’ “must see” lists, but a place that is always hopping both day and night. Tour buses pass by constantly on their way to and from Montmartre or the Moulin Rouge, but …read more

Kim Peek….Is There a French Connection?

Kim Peek….Is There a French Connection?

Clara over at Tips of All Sorts has five great video clips about Kim Peek who is better know as “Rain Man” depicted by Dustin Hoffman in the awarding winning film by the same name.
It’s part of a fascinating documentary about the man, who some say is, “the world’s greatest savant.” Since the influence of computers and search engines in our daily lives, Peek has also become known as “a living Google”! All I can say is we sat around and watched the videos in awe.
I know, this is a blog about Paris, but so what. From time to time …read more

Paris Film Festivals

Paris Film Festivals

Looking for something to do in Paris once the sun goes down, then how about a film under the stars?!
Le Festival Paris Cinéma
The Paris Film Festival was suppose to begin July 3rd, but was delayed for security reasons due to weather. The festivities were scheduled for 21h30 at the Fontaines du Trocadéro opening with “Paris, Je t’aime.” Other open air seances are also scheduled, weather permitting that is, such as “Retour de Flamme” planned for Saturday July 7th at the Butte Montmartre, but only time will tell!
Charlotte Rampling is presiding over this international film festival with 17 short films and …read more

La Cinémathèque Française

La Cinémathèque Française

What I love about France is that the French are so versatile when it comes to showing films. I know in the U.S., unless you live in a large city, most foreign films are just not accessible. Not so in France, and even more so in Paris.
If you’re a film buff, then you need to go over to the Cinémathèque Française! There is truly something for everyone; from exhibits, lectures, and debates about film and the film industry, to watching old classics, or a homage to a particular director, or actor. (From now until the 31st of July, there’s a …read more
